Underling the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign that aims at a cleaner India, Sachin Tendulkar could be seen picking up garbage wearing gloves with a ticker on the video that urged citizens to undertake similar responsibility.
The vision of a cleaner India was first put forward by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the nation whose birthday is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti every year.

Former India's blasting opener Virender Sehwag thanking to god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar for gifting him a BMW 7 series. Sehwag posted a pic on his Twitter account thanking his long time Indian team mate and opening partner for the car which is a BMW 730 Ld, The cost of the car in India is a whopping Rs 1.14 crore.

“Thank you @sachin_rt paaji and @bmwindia .Grateful for this !” said Sehwag in his caption. Sehwag and Sachin were India’s opening pair for a fair bit of their careers, most notably in the 2003 ICC World Cup. The two are known to share a warm relationship with. At the time of Sehwag’s retirement from the sport, Sachin had said that he is a “true champion” and that he was an absolute joy to play alongside. Sehwag has repeatedly stated that Sachin was an inspiration to him while making his way to the Indian team and a good friend off the pitch.

Sehwag on the other hand, recently called Sachin a man “who could stop time in India” while wishing him on his 44th birthday. While Sachin remained an integral part of the Indian squad until the time he retired, Sehwag faded away with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma taking up his opening slot. His inconsistent form with the bat in the latter half of his career also did not help and thus, Sehwag retired from cricket without a proper send-off.

Legendary cricketer and Rajya Sabha member Sachin Tendulkar has disbursed Rs 15 lakh from his allocated Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund for a ‘Water Supply Project’ at the Police Training Centre in Sangli district of Maharashtra.

The news was confirmed by Sanjay Barkund, who is the head of Turchi Police Training Center.
“We had written to many celebrities to grant funds for this Water Supply project. However we did not get a favourable response from them. Mr. Tendulkar heard our plea and immediately recommended the project worth 15 Lakhs through his MPLAD Funds. We at the Turchi Police Training Centre are extremely grateful to Mr. Tendulkar,” Barkund told PTI.

Under the scheme, each MP has the choice to suggest to the District Collector for works to the tune of Rs. 5 Crores per annum to be taken up in his/her constituency.

Under the MPLAD scheme, the Rajya Sabha MPs can recommend works in one or more districts in the State from where he/she has been elected.

The nominated members of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha may select any one or more districts from any one state in the country for implementation of their choice of work under the scheme.

The ministry has issued the guidelines on MPLADS Scheme including implementation and monitoring of the scheme. The Department has initiated all necessary steps to ensure that the scheme is successfully implemented in the field.

DON'T COMPARE ME WITH SACHIN : VIRAT KOHLI

Virat Kohli feels embarrassed when he is compared to Sachin Tendulkar and asserted that he wanted to be himself at the crease. The 27-year-old has been in breathtaking form this year, hammering heaps of runs in Australia, Bangladesh and India.

Following his exploits in Australia, Kohli has drawn comparisons with Tendulkar, who is regarded as the greatest batsman to have played the game since Donald Bradman. Tendulkar is the only batsman with 100 international hundreds and 200 Test caps and remains the highest scorer in Tests as well as one-day internationals. Kohli said drawing parallels with the Master Blaster was unfair.

"Honestly I feel embarrassed. It is unfair and Sachin can't be compared with anyone. Comparisons are not valid from my end. I have looked up to him but want to be myself and definitely draw inspiration from him. He is two levels above any player. Sachin was born with talent and I had to work for it," Kohli told India Today in an exclusive interview.

KOHLI MUCH CALMER NOW

Kohli might be hailed as the new-age Tendulkar, thanks to the sheer weight of runs under his belt but unlike his mentor, the temperamental Delhi batsman has often drawn flak over his on-field behaviour. His outbursts against Australia have looked ugly on television. During India's tour Down Under in 2011-12, Kohli flipped the middle finger to a section of the crowd at the SCG. In 2014, Kohli had serious altercations with Mitchell Johnson and David Warner while later in 2015, Ishant Sharma got banned for a Test following his verbal assaults on Sri Lanka's batsmen.

But Kohli said he is calmer now. "I understand I have crossed lines many times. Crossing the line has also helped me correct myself. I'm more calm now but whenever there will be a need for aggression, I will be up for it."

A NATURAL CAPTAIN

However, Kohli's aggressive attitude has helped in shaping up an aggressive Test side. He took charge after MS Dhoni's shock retirement in 2014 and Kohli impressed with his sharp cricketing acumen and understanding of the finer points of the game. "Captaincy is something that comes naturally to me. Initially, I was not good at handling different players differently but I have been fortunate to have players of my age in the team.

Kohli might be a product of India's new cricketing structure and he might be among the most destructive batsmen, but he is clearly a traditionalist at heart and feels Test cricket is still popular and there's immense satisfaction from a good performance in the longest format of the game.

"I am not worried about Test cricket's future. It is still very popular. When you perform, it gives real satisfaction... also in terms of job satisfaction. I still feel in Test cricket I have a long way to go. I want Test victories, series wins...want to win Test matches for the team and India. Stats and other things doesn't matter," he said.

MOTHER’S DAY SPECIAL: SACHIN’S BROTHER AJIT SHARES HEARTWARMING TALE

It’s that time of the year where the thankless job of being a mother is recognised all over. It’s that day when we thank our mothers for the love they shower on us and all the sacrifices they make.

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar’s brother Ajit shares a heart-warming tale of their mother Rajni Tendulkar in an exclusive chat with this correspondent.

"I would describe care and prayers as the two key words on this mother's day. She took care of us and has been always praying for our welfare. Whatever we and Sachin in particular have achieved is due to her," Ajit said.

“I would like to narrate an incident here. She had never watched Sachin bat at the ground except in his farewell Test (against West Indies, Mumbai in 2013), where she came on Sachin's insistence at the Wankhede stadium. She came there on all three days of the Test."

"I was in the stands with my friends. Sachin ran a single and suddenly the people stood on their feet, applauded and were clapping. Sachin had not even reached a 50 and I was very surprised. But few minutes later I realised the clapping was for our mother, who was seen on the large screen gently praying. This was a very touching moment of my life. Sachin too had praised our mother in his farewell speech.”

"I hope all mothers of the country live a great and happy life.”

Kings XI Punjab tweaker Axar Patel spoke about his mother Pritiben Patel. "My mother is a woman like no other. She game me life, nurtured, taught, dressed, fought for me, held me, shouted at me, kissed me, but most importantly loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words to describe how important my mother was to me, and what a powerful influence she continues to be. Mom, I love you so much.”

Daljeet Bumrah, mother of Team India pacer and Mumbai Indians’ bowler Jasprit Bumrah, showered immense love on her children.

"As everyone says God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. I had to be both, a mother and father to my kids (Jasprit and married daughter Juhika), and so developed a bond that is unbreakable and became a friend, supporting and motivating them. The memories, good and bad really helped in keeping us together till date.”

"As a son he has surpassed expectations and I am really very happy and proud of what he has achieved by his sheer grit, determination and hard work. All my blessings and best wishes are with him."

"On Sunday, the first call will be from my kids to wish me a very happy mother's day and then we will all celebrate. The most important is that your child respects you and realises your important, not only on mother's day but throughout life and that love is what I have received by the grace of the almighty,” Daljeet said.

Indresh Kumar, mother of another Indian pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is currently plying his trade at Sunrisers Hyderabad camp in the IPL, spoke about her son.

"I am so proud of you Bhuvi. If Bhuvi calls or not, my love and blessings are always with him, no matter how many mother’s days go by and how far he is away from me. Nothing can change that bond between us. My
baby, you will always be my love. You are my heart and you are my soul," she said.
